The short version
Disclosure Archives is a reading site. You can use all of it without an account, and we collect as little as practical: anonymous aggregate analytics, the email address you give us if you subscribe to alerts, and — if and when display advertising is enabled — the cookies the ad platform sets with your consent. We don't sell personal data.
What we collect
Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate traffic (which pages are read, from which countries, on which device classes) and real-world performance. These are cookie-less, do not build cross-site profiles, and do not identify you. We additionally record anonymous counts of clicks on outbound book links so we can tell which recommendations are useful.
Email subscriptions. If you subscribe to PURSUE release alerts or the newsletter, we store the email address you provide and the source of the signup, and we use double opt-in. Alert delivery runs through Resend; the newsletter may be delivered via Buttondown. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from delivery immediately. We never share or sell the list.
Tips and corrections. If you email a tip or a correction, we keep the correspondence. We treat source identities as confidential and will not publish a tipster's identity without explicit permission.
Server logs. Our host (Vercel) keeps standard, short-retention request logs (IP address, user agent, URL) for security and abuse prevention.
Advertising and consent
The site is preparing to carry display advertising served by Ezoic. When that is active, Ezoic and its partners may set cookies or similar identifiers to measure and personalise ads. Where required (EEA/UK and similar jurisdictions) a consent banner will ask before any non-essential cookies are set, and declining keeps the site fully usable. Until ads are live, no advertising cookies are set by us. See also Ezoic's privacy documentation at ezoic.com/privacy once ads are enabled.
Affiliate links
Book recommendations link to Amazon (and in future possibly Bookshop.org) using affiliate tags. Clicking one tells the retailer the visit came from us so we can earn a commission on qualifying purchases; the retailer's own privacy policy governs what they collect on their site. We don't receive your purchase history — only aggregate commission reports. Details in our affiliate disclosure.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from any email at any time via the link in the email. You can ask us to delete your subscription record or any correspondence by writing to corrections@disclosurearchives.com. If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory data rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar), we honor access, correction, and deletion requests for the data above — which, in practice, is your email address and little else.
Children
The site is general-audience reference material and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We'll update this page when practices change and revise the date at the top. Material changes to email handling will be announced to subscribers directly. Questions: tips@disclosurearchives.com. See also our editorial standards and terms of use.
