On 13 November 2024, the House Oversight Committee Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation, chaired by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) and Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.), held a public hearing titled 'Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Eyes on the Sky, Secrets in the Dark.'

Four witnesses testified: retired Rear Adm. Tim Gallaudet, former Oceanographer of the Navy; Luis Elizondo, former director of the Pentagon's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program; Michael Shellenberger, journalist; and Michael Gold, former NASA Associate Administrator and member of the NASA Independent Study Team on UAP.

Members including Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), and Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) raised questions about access to classified UAP information by Members of Congress, the cooperation of executive-branch agencies with the Schumer–Rounds disclosure framework, and the status of AARO's Volume II historical record. The hearing did not produce documentary disclosures but is widely considered to have continued the institutionalization of UAP oversight as a regular feature of congressional activity.
